Afghanistan Evacuation Resources

Thank you for contacting us about assistance with your evacuation request. We appreciate your patience as we work to get you the most updated guidance. The U.S. Embassy in Kabul suspended operations August 31, 2021. While the U.S. government has withdrawn its personnel from Kabul, the State Department will continue to assist U.S. citizens/Legal Permanent Residents (LPRs) and their families in Afghanistan from Doha, Qatar.
Eligible Special Immigrant Visa applications will be forwarded to the SIV office for processing. We are unable to provide status updates for SIV applications.
Afghan nationals with pending SIV applications should follow the guidance on the Special Immigrant Visas for Afghans - Who Were Employed by/on Behalf of the U.S. Government website.
If there is an open SIV case with a designated NVC case number, please email AfghanSIVApplication@state.gov with the subject line “STATUS CHECK – [Last Name]” and include the case number in the email.
For additional information, please also visit the Afghanistan inquiries website.
If you believe you qualify for the U.S. Refugee Admission Program (USRAP) also known as the P-1/P-2 Referral Program, please refer to the U.S. Refugee Admissions program (USRAP) website regarding potential eligibility for the U.S. refugee admissions program for certain categories of at-risk Afghan nationals. (Note: Members of Congress and their staff cannot make USRAP referrals.)
