The federal government may enter a shutdown beginning at 12:01am on Sunday, October 1, 2023.
We are working hard to fund the federal government and prevent a shutdown, but in the event of a government shutdown, our DC and District offices will be open and available to assist you and your family.
Below are some frequently asked questions about a shutdown, and you can also call our District office at (404) 659-0116 or our DC office at (202) 225-3801 with questions or to share your thoughts.
Please note, while our casework team will be working, we will have a greatly reduced ability to get responses on constituents’ behalf as many Federal Agencies will be closed due to the shutdown.
Do you have an upcoming trip to Washington, D.C.?
Please note that many popular attractions may be affected. Indoor facilities like the Smithsonian Museums and the National Gallery of Art will be closed. Closures will be determined on a location-by-location basis; open-air parks and monuments in Washington, D.C. will likely remain accessible. Capitol tours and White House tours will not be offered. We encourage you to reach out to the office of the attraction you’re interested in visiting for more information. If you’ve booked a tour through my office and wish to reschedule, please contact my office at (202) 225-3801.
