WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) issued the following statement after voting no on the FY 2025 National Defense Authorization Act:

Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) said:

“Another day, another political game by Republicans in Congress, this time it’s an attack on the freedoms of the men and women in our armed services. Republicans used the National Defense Authorization Act to deny servicewomen reproductive care, attack the rights of LGBTQI+ servicemembers and their families, and eliminate any Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion within the Department of Defense. The reckless politicization of the NDAA is harmful to our servicemembers and their families, and further proof that Republicans in Congress will stop at nothing to erode our freedoms.”

Congresswoman Nikema Williams proudly serves Georgia’s Fifth Congressional District on the exclusive Financial Services Committee. She is a champion of voting rights and builds on the Fifth District’s legacy as the cradle of the civil rights movement as co-chair of the Congressional Voting Rights Caucus. Congresswoman Williams is committed to closing the racial wealth gap and ensuring the promise of America for all–regardless of your ZIP code or bank account.
