Congresswoman Nikema Williams Announces $7.3 Million in Funding for Head Start Programs in the Fifth District

WASHINGTON ­­– Congresswoman Nikema­ Williams (GA-05) announced she secured $7,262,756 for Head Start programs operating in Georgia’s Fifth Congressional District. Congresswoman Williams helped secure the grant funding as part of the American Rescue Plan.

“This investment will help the Fifth District’s Head Start programs continue preparing Georgia kids for success, and help parents get back to work and grow our economy knowing their kids are safe and cared for,” said Congresswoman Williams.

“Easter Seals North Georgia, Inc. is grateful to receive grant funding awarded through the American Rescue Plan,” said Donna Davidson, President of Easter Seals North Georgia Inc., one of the Head Start Programs receiving an American Rescue Plan grant. “This investment will allow our organization to continue to support our staff, children, and families during this unprecedented time by allowing for extended year programming, facility safety upgrades, staff training and wellness supports, along with other components supporting in-person, comprehensive services.”

The American Rescue Plan Head Start Award Recipients operating in the Fifth District are:

  • CDI HS/Dekalb and Rockdale Counties, GA – $263,230
  • Clayton County Community Service Authority, Inc. – $507,316
  • Easter Seals North Georgia, Inc. – $2,394,197
  • Georgia Dept. of Early Care and Learning – $220,156
  • The Sheltering Arms – $1,180,946
  • YMCA/Early Childhood Development Co., LLC. – $2,696,911
