Congresswoman Nikema Williams Hosts 2026 Fighting Fifth Congressional Art Competition

ATLANTA, GA – This weekend, Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) joined high school students from across the Fifth Congressional District of Georgia, their families, art professionals and teachers, and elected officials to celebrate the participants of the 2026 Fighting Fifth Congressional District Art Competition and award this year’s winners.

The Congresswoman also presented the Janke Studio with a Congressional Proclamation recognizing them as a powerful example of how Atlanta cultivates creativity, builds community, and influences culture on every level.

The awards recognized were People’s Choice, Staff Choice, Carter’s Choice, 3rd Place, 2nd Place, and 1st Place. The winners were:

First Place: “Destined for Greatness” by Mariyah Thompson, Frederick Douglass High School

Second Place: “The Future Is In Your Hands” by Madison Brown, Maynard Jackson High School

Third Place: “Origains” by Amina Jabbi, Benjamin E. Mays High School

Carter’s Choice: “2 Face” by Jayden Lawless, Benjamin E. Mays High School, & “Vermilion Bush” by DaShaun Tucker, Riverdale High School

Staff Choice: “Affliction” by Ashton Grakoui, C&H Art Studio

People’s Choice: “The Future Is In Your Hands” by Madison Brown, Maynard Jackson High School
