WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Nikema Williams introduced legislation (H.Con.Res.6) last week following the attack on the Capitol incited by President Donald Trump.

The resolution prohibits the President from entering the U.S. Capitol at any time after his term expires.

“President Trump has shown time and time again that he is a danger to our democracy and a threat to the country,” said Congresswoman Williams. “His actions on January 6, caused a deadly attack on the Capitol and for that reason he should not be allowed into the Capitol. The resolution I introduced directs the House and Senate Sergeants at Arms, as well as the Capitol police to update their regulations to prohibit the President from entering the Capitol once he leaves office.

“The President’s actions cannot go unchecked. While the Senate moves forward with impeachment proceedings, it is important that the House of Representatives prevent the President from inflicting further damage and disruption of Congressional business.”
