Congresswoman Nikema Williams Leads Introduction of a Resolution Honoring Delta Air Lines’ Centennial Milestone
ATLANTA – Today, Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) introduced a resolution honoring Delta Air Lines for a hundred years of service. This resolution is co-led by Congressman Brain Jack (GA-03).
Delta Air Lines was founded on March 2, 1925, as Huff Daland Dusters—the world’s first aerial crop-dusting, and Delta Air Service took off 4 years later. Today, Delta Air Lines’s team of 100,000 people supports up to 5,000 daily flights serving more than 200,000,000 travelers per year. In 2025, Delta was named North America’s most on-time airline by Cirium, the Top United States Airline by the Wall Street Journal, World’s Most Admired Airline by Fortune, and the top-ranked airline on Time’s inaugural World’s Best Companies List.
Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) said:
“Delta Air Lines is one of the many reasons the Fighting Fifth continues to soar. Delta’s centennial celebration is a testament of both a successful business and a community pillar. Through their continual advocacy and leadership in education, sustainability, and equity, Delta demonstrates true partnership with not just communities in Atlanta but globally.
Delta is a driver of the state’s business growth, infrastructure investments, and our worldwide influence. Delta is the connector of Atlanta to the world.”
Congressman Brian Jack (GA-03) said:
“I am honored to introduce bipartisan legislation commemorating Delta Air Lines’ 100-year anniversary. Delta is the world’s premiere international airline, and its success has transformed the communities I proudly represent in Congress. The history of my hometown, Peachtree City, is interwoven with the growth of Delta. Delta is a shining example of why business and industry continue to thrive across Georgia, and I am excited to work with my colleagues – Republicans and Democrats – to honor Delta’s 100-year history of connecting people to the world and to each other.”
Delta’s Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Heather Wingate said:
“I’d like to thank Reps. Brian Jack (GA-3) and Nikema Williams (GA-5) for their bipartisan resolution honoring Delta as the first U.S. airline to reach the centennial milestone. Their support – and that of those who served before them – are one of the key reasons Delta has continued to grow and thrive in Georgia and around the globe. These important partnerships, bolstered by the work and passion of Delta’s 100,000 people is how we will keep climbing into the next century and beyond.”
The following members of the Georgia delegation co-sponsored the resolution: Rep. Buddy Carter (GA-01), Rep. Mike Collins (GA-10), Rep. Rick Allen (GA-12), Rep. Barry Loudermilk (GA-11), Rep. Lucy McBath (GA-06), Rep. Rich McCormick (GA-07), Rep. Sanford Bishop (GA-02), Rep. Hank Johnson (GA-04), & Rep. David Scott (GA-13).
