WASHINGTON Today, Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) issued the following statement after being assigned to the exclusive House Financial Services Committee for the 118th Congress.

Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) said:

“It is an honor to return to the exclusive House Financial Services Committee, one of the most powerful congressional committees where I will have direct influence on the housing market. Increasing access to homeownership has never been more important for Georgia’s Fifth Congressional District, where skyrocketing home prices have put the American dream out of reach for too many communities. I look forward to crafting policies that make homeownership affordable and accessible, the most powerful steps we can take to close the racial wealth gap.

“Working with Ranking Member Maxine Waters and my Democratic colleagues on the Financial Services Committee, I will create a more equitable country for everyone—no matter your bank account.”

Ranking Member Maxine Waters said:

“I am pleased to hear that Congresswoman Williams will again be serving on the Financial Services Committee in the 118th Congress. Since arriving in Congress, Congresswoman Williams has been a fierce advocate for her district and for especially underserved communities. I have no doubt that she will continue her long track record of advocacy on the Committee by standing up for our nation’s consumers and holding bad actors accountable.”
