WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) voted to pass the bipartisan Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2024, legislation that will authorize crucial investments in America’s water infrastructure. Each Congress must reauthorize WRDA legislation. Included in this year’s WRDA are three provisions championed by Congresswoman Williams:

  • Raising the Atlanta Environmental Infrastructure Program cap to $100 million from $75 million
  • Raising the East Point Environmental Infrastructure Program cap to $20 million from $15 million
  • Authorizing the Army Corps of Engineers to do a flood risk management study in Ward 1 and Ward 4 creeks and creek crossing in the City of College Park. This will make way for implementation of technology for early flood detection and emergency management in the creek crossing area.

Congresswoman Williams (GA-05) said:

“Reliable water infrastructure is essential for the health and safety of our communities. We all experienced this a couple months ago, infrastructure failures disrupt our entire lives. I will continue to fight for federal investments in long-term infrastructure improvements in communities across Georgia’s Fifth Congressional District.”
