Congresswoman Nikema Williams’ Response to 2023 State of the Union Address

Feb 08, 2023

WASHINGTON Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) released the following statement after President Joe Biden’s State of the Union Address:

“President Biden is correct. The state of our union is stronger now than two years ago because of the work he did with House Democrats. Together, we made healthcare more affordable, created record numbers of jobs, and put money in people’s pockets.

“Even with all these accomplishments, we still have to finish the job. We’ll do that with the policies President Biden announced tonight: protecting reproductive freedom, investing in the care economy, increasing access to healthcare, guaranteeing paid leave, returning the Child Tax Credit, and ending cancer. These are bipartisan policies in every part of the country except Congress. I’m ready to stand with my House Democrats and get these policies signed into law and finish the job for the people.”

Congresswoman Nikema Williams proudly serves Georgia’s Fifth Congressional District on the exclusive Financial Services Committee. She is a champion of voting rights and builds on the Fifth District’s legacy as the cradle of the civil rights movement as co-Chair of the Congressional Voting Rights Caucus.
