WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) issued the following statement following House passage of the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act:

“Tonight, House Democrats made progress toward enacting the transformative Build Back Better Agenda,” said Congresswoman Williams. “We passed the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, a once-in-a-generation opportunity to invest in the infrastructure of tomorrow, today. We also paved the way to bring the Build Back Better Act to the floor.

“While tonight’s vote was a major step towards progress, we still have work to do to fully pass President Biden’s Build Back Better Agenda. The Build Back Better Act makes the investments in the human infrastructure we desperately need.

“Many of my policy priorities are included in the Build Back Better Act. The bill will make historic investments in affordable housing, childcare, closing the healthcare coverage gap, universal Pre-K, Historically Black Colleges and Universities, reconnecting neighborhoods, paid family leave, climate action, and making the Child Tax Credit permanent.

I remain committed to passing the Build Back Better Act to ensure we’re delivering President Biden’s agenda for the people.

“I will keep doing everything I can to fight for and deliver for my constituents.”
