Congresswoman Nikema Williams’ Statement on Republican Farm Bill
WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) released the following statement in regards to voting NO to the Republican-led Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026 (H.R. 7567):
Congresswoman Nikema Williams said:
“The Republican Farm Bill ignores the millions of working families struggling to keep food on the table—the kids going to school hungry and the parents skipping meals to afford healthcare. It also leaves our 1890 land-grant HBCUs stuck with stagnant funding, even as inflation drives up costs and demand for their services grows. These institutions are pillars of education, research, and opportunity in our communities, and they deserve real investment—not neglect. As Trump’s trade war, tariffs, and inaction on affordability strain family budgets, Republicans are choosing to cut SNAP benefits that keep people fed while shortchanging the very institutions that help communities build a path forward.”
