WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) issued the following statement on the Supreme Court ruling in Brnovich vs. Democratic National Committee.

“Today’s decision removed a critical protection for voters of color”,” said Congresswoman Williams. “The Supreme Court gutted Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act which prevented racial discrimination at the ballot box. Today’s decision proves now is the time for Congress to act to protect voting rights. This is our civil rights moment and I will continue working to pass the For The People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act so that everyone has free and fair access to the ballot, no matter your Zip code.”
