Congresswoman Nikema Williams’ Statement on Supreme Court’s Gutting of Voting Rights Act

WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) released the following statement in reaction to the Supreme Court’s ruling on Louisiana v Callais:

Congresswoman Nikema Williams said: 

“The Supreme Court’s decision is another step away from the promise of equal representation under the Voting Rights Act. This decision weakens the voting power of Black Americans and is a direct attack on Black representation in Congress. It’s clear that Republicans, carrying the water for Donald Trump, are doing anything possible to take power while gutting the voting power of millions of Americans who would hold them accountable. We have fought this before, and we will fight this again to protect our fundamental right to vote and elect leaders who truly represent us.”
