WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) issued the following statement regarding the ongoing violence in the Palestinian territories and Israel:

“I am saddened by the heavy civilian toll from the ongoing violence in the Palestinian territories and Israel,” said Congresswoman Williams. “The United States must do all it can diplomatically to promote stability, focusing on the safety and wellbeing of the families and communities that have been devastated by this conflict.

“Israel has the right to defend itself from terrorism, but it must prevent the further loss of civilian life. The killing of innocent civilians and children, regardless of national origin or location of residence, is unacceptable and can never be tolerated.

“As the situation continues to progress, I am committed to working toward a solution that protects all people.
