Congresswoman Nikema Williams Votes NO on the Department of Defense Appropriations Act 2026
WASHINGTON D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) released the following statement:
Congresswoman Nikema Williams said:
“We cannot keep spending more and more money on defense. I have consistently called for reining in excessive defense spending so we can fully invest in our communities. Continuing to rubber stamp an inflated budget over smart investments shortchanges the American people.
Rather than investing in our communities, Republicans are continuing both DOGE and the Administration’s cuts to vital civilian positions, attacking the LGBTQI+ community with hateful policies, and banning funding for diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
I remain committed to supporting our servicemembers and strengthening our national security. However, I cannot in good conscience support an inflated defense bill that abandons working families in the Fighting Fifth and across the country.”
