WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) released the following statement after voting YES on H.Con.Res.38, the Iran War Powers Resolution.

Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) said: 

“Only Congress has the power to declare war, yet Trump keeps placing America in dangerous and unconstitutional wars that cost American lives and hurt working families at home instead of working to make life more affordable and lower costs for Americans. We are already mourning the lives of the six dedicated and patriotic service members who we have lost in this war. It is past time for Congress to rein in Trump and his ability to pull the U.S. into his wars of whim.

I voted YES on the Iran War Powers Resolution to end this war before it becomes endless, before life becomes even more expensive than it already is for Americans, and before more of our dedicated service members are injured or lost.”
