WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) announced she is serving as Vice Chair of the New Democrat Coalition (NDC)’s Economic Growth and Fiscal Responsibility Task Force alongside Chair Chrissy Houlahan (PA-06). The goal of the task force is to advance policies that promote equitable economic growth and a sustainable fiscal path. In addition, with NDC Vice Chair for Communications Brad Schneider (IL-10), the group will work to ensure Members know and understand economic data from federal policies.

Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) said:

“Serving as Vice Chair of the New Dems Economic Growth and Fiscal Responsibility Task Force presents another opportunity to set economic policies that leave no one behind. We have a lot of work to do to ensure historically marginalized communities have access to every resource they need to achieve the American Dream. I look forward to working with Representative Houlahan to create more paths to economic opportunity for more people.”

Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan (PA-06) said:

“Prioritizing fiscal responsibility and equitable economic growth are two things we owe the American people. As we engage in difficult conversations on our country’s debt, there has never been a more important time for this task force to exist and I am honored to be its chair. I know Vice Chair Williams will be a great partner in this effort and I look forward to continuing our work.”

The group plans to meet twice a quarter to propose fiscally responsible policy priorities, push for policies to close the wealth gap, promote entrepreneurial equity, and engage with the executive branch to ensure the U.S. is promoting a worker-focused and sustainable economy.
