Congresswoman Nikema Williams Signs on to Cosponsor Bipartisan Congressional Gold Medal Bill

WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05), signed on to bipartisan legislation that would posthumously award the Congressional Gold Medal to the 13 U.S. military servicemembers who were killed in Afghanistan on August 26, 2021. Originally introduced by Congresswoman Lisa McClain (MI-10) last week, the legislation now has 241 cosponsors. 

“The 13 fallen servicemembers are heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice protecting America,” said Congresswoman Williams. “I am proud to co-sponsor this bipartisan bill in their honor, and I will continue to send my thoughts and prayers to their families as they heal from this heartbreaking loss.”

“I’m encouraged that this legislation to honor the 13 servicemembers killed in Afghanistan last week is receiving overwhelming support from both sides of the aisle,” said Congresswoman McClain. “I urge House leadership to quickly pass this bill so we can honor the lives of our fallen servicemembers.”
